AstRO Pet Genetic System (DNA Splicing)
AstRO custom pet system completely decouples appearance and stats. You can freely choose any pet companion you prefer aesthetically and install the DNA of up to 4 other pets into its sequencing helices (slots) to accumulate their passive bonuses.

Gene Architect (NPC & Location)

All pet genetic engineering is performed by the Gene Architect in the Geneticist Bio-Lab.

Command: Type @petinfo in-game to inspect your active pet's current tier, slots, and installed DNA sequences at any time.

Requirement: Your base pet must be hatched and actively summoned by your side to interact with the Gene Architect or to execute @petinfo.

Genetic Tiers & Sequencing Helices (Slots)

Newly hatched pets start at Tier 0 [Basic] and can be advanced up to Tier 3 [Apex]. Each tier tier unlocks an additional sequencing helix (DNA socket):

System Operations

1. Sequence Advancement (Tier Progression)

To expand your pet's slots, select Sequence Advancement at the Gene Architect. Each upgrade attempt consumes Genetic Material and specific catalysts:

2. Splicing (Installing DNA)

Installs the genetic essence of an unhatched pet egg from your inventory into an open helix of your active companion.

Process: Choose Splicing (Install DNA) while carrying the target egg in your inventory.
Consumption: The sacrificed egg is consumed in the process.
No Duplicate Stacking: You cannot install duplicate DNA sequences from the same pet species into the same host.
Pure Specimens Only: Eggs that have already been spliced with DNA cannot be used as donor specimens.

3. Desequencing (Extracting DNA)

If you wish to change your build or retrieve a rare pet egg:

Select Desequencing (Remove DNA).
Choose the helix you wish to extract.
Cost: 50,000 Zeny.
Safe Recovery: The extracted pet egg is returned directly to your inventory with a 100% success rate.

4. Salvaging Genetic Material (Recycling Pets)

Surplus pet eggs can be dismantled into Genetic Material, the core currency required for sequence advancements.

Mass Salvage: You can salvage a single egg or bulk-salvage all duplicate clean specimens at once.
Safety Safeguard: Eggs containing modified DNA are automatically excluded from the salvage list to prevent accidental dismantling.

Important Mechanics & Rules

Hunger Requirement: For socketed DNA bonuses to apply to your character, your active pet's hunger must be strictly greater than 20. Keep your companion fed.
Auto-Feeding: Enabling auto-feeding ensures your passive bonuses stay active during combat and instance runs.
Multiple Specialized Pets: Spliced DNA is stored per individual pet. You can configure multiple companions for different activities (e.g., a farming pet with Drop/EXP bonuses, a physical DPS pet, a magic DPS pet, or an elemental resistance/tanking pet).
